Privacy Policy for BoxStream

BoxStream ("the App") is a music player for Dropbox audio files. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App processes and how.

1. Data We Process

BoxStream may process the following data on your device:

Dropbox authentication credentials needed to access your Dropbox account in the App
File and folder metadata (for example: names, paths, hashes, duration, title, artist, album, cover art)
Playback and app data (for example: favorites, playback history, cached links, downloaded tracks)
Device/network state used for playback and casting

2. How Data Is Used

We use data only to provide App features, including:

Browsing and playing your Dropbox audio files
Showing track metadata and artwork
Caching media and metadata to improve performance
Supporting favorites, playback continuity, notifications, and cast playback

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

BoxStream uses third-party services strictly for functionality:

Dropbox API (to authenticate and access files you choose)
Google Cast framework (for casting playback)
Google Play services / Android platform components

BoxStream does not run its own backend service for collecting your personal data.

4. Storage and Retention

Most App data is stored locally on your device (Room database, app cache, downloaded media cache).

Cached/downloaded media may be retained to improve performance.
You can clear cached data from the App settings.
Unlinking Dropbox removes stored Dropbox credentials from the App.

5. Permissions

Depending on Android version and features used, BoxStream may request permissions such as:

Internet / network access (Dropbox and casting)
Audio/media access (playback)
Notifications (playback controls)
Foreground service (media playback)

Permissions are used only for corresponding App features.

6. Security

We use reasonable measures provided by Android and third-party SDKs to protect data on-device and in transit. No method of storage or transmission is guaranteed to be 100% secure.

7. Children

BoxStream is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us to request deletion guidance.

8. Your Choices

You can:

Unlink Dropbox in Settings
Clear app caches in Settings
Uninstall the App to remove local app data from your device (subject to Android backup settings)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version should be published at the URL listed in the Google Play listing.
